She was surprised when she saw Clayton’s driver with a bouquet of flowers and a small red package. The red roses were so attractive and beautiful.

“Good evening, ma’am. Mr. Clayton asked me to give you this.”

“Huh?” The only thing she could say.

He stretched the flowers and the package to her. She collected them, still wondering if she was okay. She needed to know. Ruth stood by the open door, watching the driver get into the car and zoom off.

She was lost—mostly in shock and disbelief.

“Ruth? Ruth, are you there?” Whitney’s voice brought her back to reality.

“Did I hear you—Clayton?” she asked.

“What did you get, Ruth?” she yelled out again.

“Yeah… yeah, he got flowers and a package I haven’t opened yet.”
