Chapter 5

Three, no, four, ah... damn! Five objects now lined up on the bathroom sink in Jess's Beverly Hills apartment are her current focus. They all show almost identical results. Two lines. Jess's heart feels like it stops beating for a fraction of a second, causing an unusual choking sensation.

"This is insane," she mutters under her breath. "It was just last night... oh, damn it. The whole night, actually. But it was relentless." Jess massages her temples, releasing the frustration that suddenly engulfs her head. "What should I do, dear God!"

Telling Kenzo. Yes, that's the right thing to do. But Kenzo? That annoying guy? Argh! Jess half screams in disbelief because she never expected that they would actually stick together that night. As if they were each showing how they both had their own powers, making them overlook that something significant was lurking around them.

Like right now. Jess is pregnant.
