“It’s the audition,” she said calmly, walking over to adjust one of my earrings. “Well… sort of. Let’s skip the formal script reading. I know you can act. I want to see how you hold your own in a rehearsal setting.”

My stomach twisted. “Rehearsal?”

“Yes. You’ll be playing Ava—the rude, spoiled brat, remember? You’re the female lead. We’ll use your real name and age for now, since this isn’t the final shoot. Just stay in character.”

“You remember your lines right?”

I nodded slowly, nerves crawling under my skin. I had questions in my head.

My real name and age?

Why? Isn’t it better that I use the character’s… However, another part of my brain suggested what’s the big deal? I’m that the character can be named Charlotte too.

They took me to the door.

“As soon as you step in there, it’s action,” Jessica told me.

I nodded and adjusted my crop top, cleared my throat, and took a breath.

A female voice boomed from a
