Chapter 29. The Zeath Lupin
I’ve learned to be more comfortable speaking in a lower tone—in a kind of way that exudes nonchalance.
“I don’t think so,” I say blandly. “You don’t look familiar to me.”
I still feel Zeath’s eyes on me. But I don’t bother looking at him even as I immediately step out once the elevator reaches my destination.
He follows slowly behind, and I try as much as I can not to trip between my own feet.
Staying strong won’t be easy. It never will. Yet, I must give it a try.
When I return home, Cross is standing in the porch, gesturing whether he should help me fix the house.
I nod. However, as I walk past him into the house, I can tell he’s feeling my distress, seeing as he now looks at me like I’m a bomb ticking to explode.
“I’m fine. Everything is fine,” I tell him.
