She wanted to deny it. Loudly. Scream that he was wrong. But that would be her wounded pride screaming. Nicholas had broken her heart then stamped on the shattered pieces for good measure. There was nothing left of her heart for him to damage.
Nicholas saw the emotions play out over Caroline’s face. He noticed every pulse in her eyes, every ragged movement of her chest. He saw the flush of color on her cheeks and the way her breasts strained towards him and the outline of her nipples pressed against the fabric of her nightwear.
