Chapter 15
Sasha flushed when she recalled what she’d been saying to his sister as she’d opened the door. “Do you know that that was Tilly, your sister on the phone?”
Defensive, angry energy radiated off her in waves. She could almost see them, like a heat haze. He shook his head, his eyes never leaving hers, hypnotizing her.
“No. I wasn’t aware of that. At least not until I heard her voice just now. But it’s not such a big deal, is it?”
Sasha laughed out loud. “Not a big deal? Are you even thinking about anyone else but yourself, for God’s sake.”
He started to shrug off his big, black overcoat and proceeded to whip out a bottle of wine from somewhere, like a magician. Panic flowed through Sasha. She put out her hands as if that might halt him. “What do you think you’re doing? Stop taking off your coat right now.”
She shook her head emphatically.” No way; you are not coming in here with a bottle of wine, and we are not going to be having a cozy chat.”
