“We’re ready to go, Alaric,” Torren said. He, as well as Gareth and Edrick, shifted to their wolf forms as Alaric bent down to Mirella.
“You did the right thing in telling me, my love. I will be back soon with Elowyn. I promise you. Do not be frightened while I am gone. Your grandmother will keep you safe.”
She nodded solemnly and stepped back, taking Seraphine’s hand as Rowena stepped forward.
“Be careful, Alaric.”
He nodded and was turning away when Rosamund stepped out from the house. She glanced around the group curiously.
“Alaric, my darling? Where are you going?”
