Chapter 46. I Don't Want This Anymore
"You're quitting?" Jenson looked up from his phone, his hands balled into fists.
A resignation letter. She just sent him a two-page and signed resignation letter.
Was this a joke? A silly late-night prank? His intakes of breath barely reached his lungs now.
Despite the burning questions on his mind, he just stared at his only companion—the only person he wanted to talk to since he got out of bed—and ignored the rest of the email that awaited his response.
Avoiding his eyes and clearly nervous, Jessi stood with arms crossed near his desk. Her plain black shirt hung an inch above the waistband of her pink jeans, her sneakers almost the same color. A loose ponytail bound her dark hair and bared the smoothness of her face and photogenic features.
No makeup. But still too pretty for his self-denying capabilities. Heck. She looked beautiful no matter what she wore. No matter what time of day.
