Alistair’s POV
My office door slammed open, jolting me out of the paperwork I’d been drowning in. Valerie and Clara stormed in like a pair of hurricanes, worry etched across their faces.
“We need to talk—it’s about Lyra,” Valerie blurted as soon as she crossed the threshold.
What could they possibly know about Lyra that I didn’t? The police and my own men were already on the case, and so far we’d hit nothing but dead ends.
I set my pen down and forced my voice to stay steady. “Have a seat,” I said, nodding toward the chairs opposite my desk.
I hadn’t forgotten so quickly that it was Valerie’s actions that drove Lyra away in the first place. Seeing her now brought everything back.
Valerie pressed a crumpled sheet of paper into my hand. “This is a map. I’m convinced it shows where Lyra is being held.”
Clara leaned forward, urgency in her eyes. “Don’t say you think—she’s definitely there.”
