I was barely aware of my surroundings when I heard Alistair’s voice calling my name. “Lyra.” I lifted my head slowly and saw him stepping into the room, concern etched across his face. He knelt down beside me. “Are you okay?” he asked, leaning closer so I could hear him.
I managed a faint smile. “I’m fine,” I said, rubbing my temples. “Just a little headache.”
He breathed a sigh of relief. I blinked up at him, surprised by his presence. “You came for me,” I murmured, disbelief coloring my tone. I hadn’t expected him to come looking for me so quickly. It must have been Clara who alerted him—she’d found me first and sent him word.
“Let’s get you home,” he said gently, taking my hand.
