Lyra’s POV
This morning I threw together a casual outfit that somehow still looked good on me. I slid into my favorite pair of snug blue jeans—slightly distressed at the knees but tailored just right—and paired them with a simple black crop top that showed off my waist. For a moment I felt like a high-school kid sneaking out for an afternoon hangout, and I couldn’t help but giggle at the memory. High school hadn’t exactly been a nonstop party, but there were a few golden moments tucked away in my heart, bright spots that still made me smile.
Next I pulled on a fresh pair of white sneakers, grabbed my tote bag off the dining room table, and threw a lightweight denim jacket over my shoulders. I double-checked that I had my phone, keys, and wallet before swinging my bag across one arm and heading for the front door. The early morning sunlight spilled in through the hallway window, warming my skin and lifting my mood as I hurried out.
