I stood frozen in the doorway,the keys still clutched in my hand,my breath catching in my throat.

Adrian was sitting on my couch.

His presence didn’t feel real at first,like my brain couldn’t process the sight of him there,casually leaning back against the cushions of my couch.

He looked up the moment I entered,and our eyes locked.For a long beat,neither of us moved.The air between us stretched tight,filled with too much history to fit into one room.His face was calm,but not detached.Like he was holding something back.Different emotions flashed behind his eyes,and I wondered how many of mine he could see.
