“Whatever this sauce is, I want them to give my mother the recipe,” Hank tells me.

“It is good,” I agree, cutting another piece of my steak. “But I doubt the castle chefs would let go of their secret recipes.”

“Maybe not.”

We’re quiet for a while, enjoying the meal. The chefs here really are fantastic. Alpha King Cassian does an amazing job of making sure all his warriors are well taken care of.

“Too bad Simon is missing out,” he says after a while. “But I guess he was due for a vacation.”

I finish my bite with a chuckle. “I’m sure what he’s getting is much better than food.”

“True,” he admits, laughing a bit himself before he turns serious. “Must be wonderful to have a mate.”
