Captain Elias is a gruff man. He loves money, and he’ll do anything to get more of it. Illegal activity is rampant on this ship, and I have no choice but to turn a blind eye. I’m not going to be able to stop this man from transporting ill-gotten cargo from one place to another.

I’ve learned to live with that. I’ve even been able to put my feelings on the matter aside and for a moment, I was starting to almost like the man. After all, he’d locked up Kordaway for several days when that awful man had tried to force his way into my room.

But now, he’s gone too far. Obviously, this Lyra woman isn’t here because she loves sailing. She’s been kidnapped, and they expect me to just go with it and keep my mouth shut.
