Chapter 41. You Lose

Upon hearing Aviva's explanation, Maverick's brows flickered as if he were trying to decipher things. His eyes turned glazed and his expression turned blank, yet the cold aura exuding from Maverick made it seem as if the temperature in the mansion had dropped.

Everyone felt as if they were thrown into an ice-stellar, making them shiver, their bodies tense with fright. The mansion was so silent that if a pin dropped, it'd be heard.

Maverick reached out for his pants pocket and took out his phone. He unlocked his phone, opened the messaging app, and went through it. The more Maverick scrolled through, the colder his expression.

As soon as Maverick was done scrolling through his phone, he threw his phone at Aurora to catch, which she swiftly caught. Upon seeing Maverick's chat interface, Aurora's face paled with fright.

There was no sign of a text sent to Aurora through Maverick's phone. So who sent the text Aurora received?
