Tommy had to make sure he had a firm way of convincing Vanessa that he had finally realized she was the best person for him and not Isabel. He planned to claim that he was never in love with Isabel and that he was just with her because of a contract that required him to show a marriage certificate. Since Vanessa was nowhere to be found at that time, he had decided to be with Isabel until he was successful in ensuring she granted him the divorce he wanted.

If he didn’t handle it this way, Isabel was going to take all the money he had worked for, as they had signed a prenup similar to the one Vanessa and Tristan had signed. After hearing Tommy's plan, Isabel was uncomfortable, but she had no choice but to go with the flow and behave accordingly around Vanessa.
