Chapter 5
Noah’s POV
Mirabelle quietly got into the backseat of my car after my driver had passed my orders down to her.
She remained silent with a blank expression and lifeless eyes. A sharp pain shot through my chest, aware that the Mira seated next to me was nothing like the cheerful Mira I had known.
She didn’t even bother to know who called her, and this is all because of that dickhead she called a husband!
I was annoyed, very furious at that, but I tried to be calm, steadying my emotions as I always had before speaking up.
“You seem lost in thoughts... Don’t you want to know why I called you here?”
Her body stiffened, her brows creased into deep lines before she whipped her head towards my direction, and her jaw instantly dropped open.
I chuckled at her cute reaction, knowing fully well that she was stunned to see a striking replica of Ken sitting next to her.
The only difference that can be marked out between me and that asshole is that he has a pair of brown orbs, while every other feature, physique, and tone are alike.
“You?!” She gasped out loud.
I saw her baling her fist adorably, looking like an angry little bird as she glared at me while gritting her teeth.
I’m sure she’s mad at me. She has every right to be angry about what happened last night.
But it was for her good and betterment; if I had not come in, it would have turned out worse than what is currently happening.
“Yes, it’s me,” I said to her, and her face turned a shade of red, so I tried to calm her temper.
“I know you must be mad at me and might also feel the need to kill me, to vent your anger. But... before you end my existence, you should at least know the truth before sending this handsome man to his early grave, don’t you think so?” I asked her with a smug smile hanging at the corner of my lip.
Without warning, she unexpectedly jumped on me and wrapped her fingers around my neck to choke me to death, but my smile remained because her strength seemed like that of a cute little puppy.
“Shut the hell up, you dumbass! You ruined my life, but you expect me to listen to you? How dare you take advantage of me while I was intoxicated and be so calm about it? I feel like killing you right away!”
“Kill me then.”
“What?”
Finding her whole reactions and expression amusing, I couldn’t help but add some more spice to see how far the entertainment could go.
“You look so cute and seductive while on me, bitch! I guess you don’t realize how intimately close we are right now, kitten. All you want to do is send this dude to his early grave, even before knowing the truth. It isn’t fair, kitten.” A side of my lip playfully fell in sadness.
“What truth?” She demanded, ignoring every other word I said about our current position.
I momentarily shut my eyes, letting out a gruff sigh as I pinched the bridge of my nose lightly.
It’s about time she knows why I took that step last night.
“They paid a pimp to take advantage of you so they could have evidence of you cheating. That way, divorcing and kicking you out becomes easier for them. But as the kind-hearted man that I am, I didn’t let that happen. Coming to your rescue as a knight in shining armor,” I pouted my lip.
I don’t know why, but I find it fun to act childish around her.
“Here’s the video clip I got ‘cause I know you’d refuse to believe me.”
I gave her my phone, and she yanked it from me, then settled into the space next to me.
A gush of cool breeze from the air conditioner in the car hit me once she left, making me miss how dominantly she had sat on me and how warm she made me feel. Sigh...
My eyes darted to her flawless, gorgeous face, her brows knotting together, and her expression gradually turned cold as she watched the video clip.
“I can’t believe Ken and Mitchelle would plot such a disgusting act just to kick me out. To tarnish my image.” Her voice broke down like she was heartbroken to find out the truth, but her eyes burned like wildfire.
“They dared to take everything from me, called me a whore, and also threw me out of my home after making me feel bad, thinking last night was unplanned; meanwhile, they were the ones behind it!”
She squeezed the phone angrily as her face turned dark and her eyes full of determination.
“I must make them pay and take back everything they took from me at any cost! I don’t mind how long it might take, but I swear they will regret this day!” She swore.
A pleased grin formed on my lips. This is exactly what I wanted, what I needed to see from Mira before proposing anything to her.
“I can help you with that.”
Her gaze shot in my direction suspiciously. I gave her a slight nod with a reassuring smile.
“All you need to do is sign these...” I tell her as I hand her some documents.
“It’s a marriage contract, Mirabelle Estella Davies. Be my wife, and I promise to help you get revenge on everyone who has ever wronged you.” I proposed to her, and she gave me a doubtful look for a few seconds, but I didn’t waver.
I maintained the same energy, my eyes fixed on hers to show her how genuine my proposal was, and she slowly accepted the paper. I also passed her a pen.
Unlike Ken, who had forged her signature on the divorce papers, from what I saw in the footage I got on my phone.
This time around, Mira willingly signed the pages of the marriage documents, making herself my lovely wife.
