Beauty stormed into their bedroom.
Bruno, shirtless and relaxed, sat at the edge of the bed, busy with his laptop.
He looked up at her with a soft smile that faded the second he saw her face.
“Baby?” he asked, standing, looking genuinely concerned. “What’s wrong?”
She stared at him, jaw tight and arms crossed beneath her chest. “Did you or did you not win horse riding championships?”
Bruno blinked, confused for a second. Then his shoulders dropped.
“Lisa told you,” he muttered.
“She showed me pictures,” Beauty snapped. “You told me a horse threw you and that you hated them. How could you lie to me, baby?”
Bruno walked slowly toward her. “I was thrown by a horse. When I was six. I broke my collarbone and couldn’t sleep near animals for a year. I was terrified. That part is true. I didn’t lie about that.”
