Chapter 30. Barrier
“What are you talking about? You have to rest and—” Nezetta stopped short with the platter of food and water in her hands, at the icy glare Naomi shot at her.
Only then did she notice the acrid smell surrounding the room.
Head tilted in curiosity, she walked over to the window where something that should have been a parchment had she arrived moments earlier, lay burning and almost reduced to ash.
“What is this?” She asked as she put out the flames with one hand and picked up the remnant of the parchment that had not been completely consumed whilst balancing the tray on the other.
Naomi did not spare her a glance. So focused was she on the singular thought racing through her mind.
