Chapter 5

From where she stood by the window, she saw his car drive in. Her heart was filled with joy and she was nervous at the same time.

She looked around the room one last time to be sure everything was in the proper place and order. 

She was putting on a sexy night gown and she smelt of lovely and sweet flowers. She lay on the bed waiting for him to come in. There was no way he wouldn't notice her that night. 

Her heart skipped a beat when she heard his footsteps approaching. Then the footsteps faded, he probably entered another room. Her heart did a mad palpitation as she anticipated his entrance.

When he came inside, she went to him and wrapped him in her arms. He didn't freeze or resist her. But for the first time in many weeks, he stared at her closely. Then he opened his mouth to say something. She tiptoed to plant a kiss on his lips and he frowned his face. He freed himself from her embrace and said coldly,

"Sit down. I didn't come all the way to this place for this drama. I came to tell you something."

His voice was flat, emotionless, like he was discussing business ventures with his partners and not his wife. Nelly's heart sank. She almost thought she had scaled through. 

"My grandfather's birthday is in one week and he has requested that I come there with you. Listen carefully, I won't say what I have to say twice. My secretary will be here tomorrow morning to take you to Nicole stores to pick a dress. By 1:00pm on Thursday, make sure you are ready. I will be here with my driver. At my grandfather's place, you better act like everything is fine. Well, I need not educate you on how to do that. See you on Thursday."

As he stood up, she got a glimpse of the Rolex watch on his wrist. It was the latest model and it fit him perfectly. His sandalwood perfume wafted into her nostrils and made her shiver. Her gaze was drawn to his impossibly handsome face and tall powerfully built body. Whaoa! He was simply breathtaking and there was no way she could get over him. 

As she admired him, he too studied her closely and noticed her seductive attire. 

"One more thing. I will never ever love you. You should quit this lousy act of yours. Stop trying to seduce me. It will never work."

Nelly stared at him in embarrassment. She had never been this humiliated or insulted in her life. 

She was brought back to reality when the wind hit her face from the open door. Ivan had left, he left without looking back! Her sexy dressing and her sweet smelling perfume did nothing to move him. 

The car came to a halt in front of the Landers' mansion. Ivan cast Nelly a meaningful glance as the car door opened. He held her hands and they stepped down from the car. 

"Good evening, grandfather."

"Good evening son, how are you?"

"I'm fine. How's your health?"

"I am healthy now."

The old man focused his attention on Nelly. Even under his stare, she didn't shiver. She only bowed and greeted him but she remained composed. 

"This your little wife looks good. I am sure you treat her properly. Don't you?"

"I do, grandfather."

The old man smiled and nodded.

"I see. When do you plan to give her a grand wedding?"

Ivan didn't see the question coming. He expected his grandfather to be the least to recommend a wedding. The marriage between Ivan and Nelly were his plans, why then will he ask for a grand wedding?

Before he could assemble the right words and say them, Katty came running down the stairs. 

Katty was a sweet young girl of about twenty years old. Ivan's grandfather adopted her to make amends for his friend's death. Her father, Commander Sullivan, was his very good friend who laid down his life for him. After his death, Easton adopted his daughter and took her as his own. 

"Ivan, you didn't tell me you were returning."

Smiling broadly, she wrapped herself in his embrace. Ivan wanted to shove her aside but the smile on his grandfather's face made him do otherwise. 

"It wasn't necessary to publicize my return."

"But you…"

"Katty, I just returned and I should get some rest."

Her face fell and she pouted.

"Right. I will get the maids to serve you lunch."

Katty was still the same. She loved Ivan from the first day she met him and always tried to please him. She wanted him to get married to her but he only took her as his younger sister and nothing more. 

The birthday party was held the following day. There were lot of dignitaries in attendance. Everything went smoothly and by evening, Nelly was highly exhausted. She went up to their room to get some rest. 

She was already asleep when the door was pushed open and Ivan staggered inside. She was awaken by his noise. He was obviously drunk. She stood up from the bed, intending to use the sofa while he used the bed. But he pushed her to the bed and bit her lips fiercely. Like a man who had been starved, he tore off her clothes and set about exploring her breasts and other body parts with his mouth. She moaned in pleasure and surrendered herself to him with joy. 

Katty climbed the stairs with a smirk on her face. She stopped at Ivan's door and pulled the door knob. It was locked! She pulled again and frowned. Then she listened closely, she could hear loud moans coming from the room!

Who had gone there before her? Who spoilt her plans?

Earlier that evening, she monitored Ivan's every move. Finally, she was able to offer him a glass of wine at the end of the party. The dr*g only needed a few minutes to work. From a distance, she watched his stagger, hold his head and go upstairs. She even visualized herself under him, receiving his hard thrusts. 

She followed suit some minutes later only for her to find out that someone else was in there, enjoying what she laboured for. She had always wanted him to take her to bed and her only chance was ruined. 

She was startled when a cold and unfriendly voice called out,

"What are you doing there?"
