I failed at the one thing I was supposed to be good at, and I’ll carry the guilt with me for the rest of my life. I made a mistake of letting her out of my sight, but that’s not going to happen anymore. I’ll die before I allowed anything happen to her again, and to make sure she is safe, I had to kill my brother. Heather had vanished again, because I’d failed to eliminate her when I had the chance to. I realized her involvement in the ordeal when I found that camera. I recognized it because I’d gotten it for her on one of her birthdays. All of it was my fucking fault.

Betrayal is downright unforgivable for me a man like me, and letting either Heather or Donovan live felt like I was betraying myself and my mate. I wanted to curse the goddess for the ill luck she has dealt me.
