It was the very next day, and Richard was filled with excitement. Everything was coming together in preparation for tonight’s events, which were a mixture of a burial ceremony and a celebration of victory.
He walked about the castle, inspecting those who worked to clean it up.
“Good work, Mary; don’t forget to dust under the table,” he said to a maid cleaning the dining table of blood and dirt.
He went outside to find some of the other nobles, clearing the streets of all the dead bodies and residuals of the raid.
“Watch it, we will be having an event this evening; it’s either you guys move fast or we hang you like the rest; it’s not really what I want but what the people want, and as king, it’s kind of my duty to satisfy my people,” he said to a man who was throwing up.
The only nobles they left unharmed were the ones that weren’t in with the king, and those were some of the few he invited today.
