Asher's Point Of View

I sipped from my can of beer, ignoring the sea of bodies that danced around, the loud music, the deafening gossip, and chatter that almost bled my ears, and the blazing fire that burned right in the middle of the meadow opposite the mansion. I ignored it all and focussed my undivided attention on Cirilla Bane.

She was seated on one of the outstretched armchairs, right opposite me, across the meadow. Her thoughts had no doubt drifted far away, even though her eyes were glued to the burning fire. Only the goddess knew how I wished I knew what had consumed her thoughts.

Abruptly, she stood up from her chair and wandered into the woods in her blue jeans shorts and white striped singlet. I gulped down the final content of my drink, and pulled up from my chair, grabbing my jacket.
