“No,” Hayden said instantly. His pride sharp. “I don’t need you guys t—”
“You need us,” Beck cut him off, his voice flat. “This is not the time for you to be stubborn.”
Hayden bristled. “Once the security system is updated, we’ll be ok. I can protect myself and my wife just alright.”
“Yeah, sure.” Jared scoffed. “When you’re done yapping, we’re still moving in.”
Myla could feel Hayden’s body tense up and practically start vibrating in anger. She stood up and went to sit at the desk.
She looked at Beck, who was standing there watching the two men argue with an amused smirk on his face. He whispered to her, “Like watching two goats butting heads. Fascinating, isn’t it?”
