Alyssa POV
When we return to the living room, King and Gray stop their conversation mid-sentence. The air feels heavier than when we left, and Gray’s sharp eyes cut straight to me, suspicion flickering across his face.
“What’s going on, babe?” he asks, his tone clipped as his gaze shifts to Christine. His arched brow screams he’s not in the mood for bullshit. I wonder what he and King were discussing while we were gone that’s got him so tense. I know King wouldn’t tell him about Christine without me present.
Christine, the fake bitch that she is, flashes him a sugary smile that makes my stomach churn. “Nothing, baby. I was just telling Alyssa I wanted to go shopping with her. You know, have us a girl’s day.”
