Chapter 29. Almost a Screw-Up
Caleb’s POV
The ride back to the packhouse was tense, both me and Caroline lost in our own thoughts about everything that had happened today.
I knew she was worried about Aurora. Fuck, so was I. But what could we possibly do when she had set her foot down and refused to let us help her?
The thought both agitated and worried me. And for the first time, I was beginning to realize that she was truly alone in this world, with no one to turn to when she really needed help. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how that felt like, because for a wolf, pack was family, and they always had your back.
However, it seemed like I had other things to deal with of my own, because as soon as I turned into the driveway, my heart gave an involuntary thud at the sight in front of me. My mother was waiting for me when I arrived back at the pack house, and I could tell by her expression that my father already knew what had happened.
