Chapter 105. Unexpected Visitor
It looks like she knit it from a ball of bright colored yarn, as if she took all of The Muppets’ skins and put them together to make one sweater. The black collar and arms make it look like it’s four sizes too big for me and make it even louder.
"I should have made it smaller because I forgot that you had lost so much weight." She talks a lot. "I just finished putting it together last night, so let’s take a look!"
My dad and Jesse are trying not to laugh from across the living room, and I give her a fake smile.
"Thanks, Abuela, it tastes great!"
"Well, it’s so cold here that I thought you could use a sweater."
I say "yes" with a little hesitation and take the shirt from her. Mom smiles over her shoulder from the kitchen, and I know that everyone in my family thinks this is funny. When I put it on, I smell mothballs, Ivory soap, and her perfume, all of which make me feel like I’m going to die.
