Chapter 107. Gift Giving
"I don’t know what’s scaring you so much." Mom leans up against my door and says something, and I sigh.
"Mom, I don’t have anything to give him for Christmas." As I put everything back in my bag, I say something to myself.
For my trip with Nash, I had to go to my apartment, do my cleaning, pack a new bag, and then go to the airport. The truth is that it wasn’t the packing that made me feel sick, but the stress I’d put on myself.
"So? He said he didn’t want one, didn’t he?" I sigh when she asks.
"But he’s taking me to New York," she said. I’m quiet. "Isn’t that enough reason to at least give it a try?"
"Just give him something that feels like it’s from you, something real." As she walks into my room, she says and gives me a tight hug. "Chloe, have a great time. I love you."
"I love you too." When I smile at her, she smiles back and then walks away.
