Chapter 118. Surprise Visit

"We didn’t have to go to a place as nice as this." As Nash sends back his credit card for our bill, I mumble.

He chose a new restaurant that a family friend had told him about. It was tasty, but holy cow, was it expensive. I would have been happy to do anything with him, it didn’t have to be this nice.

"Chloe, please let me spend money on you." He is sad. "It’s a special night. You and I have eaten at bars and chain restaurants before, but this is special, and I wanted to do something nice. I won’t waste our nice clothes."

"Well, I really do appreciate it." I mumble, and he smiles and puts his hands out to me. "Every time I miss you, you show up." When I whisper, he chews the inside of his mouth and tries not to smile.
