Clara didn’t sleep.
She lay awake in the faint silver light spilling through her window, replaying every touch, every word. Tomorrow.
That was what he’d said. Was he really going to tell her his name or did he just say 'Tomorrow', just to stall for time, cause her to let down her guard? She shook her head. He didn't strike her like a man who would lie. If he had not wanted to tell her his name, he would say so straight, without giving a damn what she made of his refusal.
By dawn she had given up trying to calm her thoughts. The choker lay on her nightstand, catching the early light like a small, watchful eye.
When the message came, it wasn’t a note. It was a single text:
Come home.
No address, no instructions. Just that.
But she knew exactly where he meant. What she didn't know was if it was really home and who it was home to, him or her.
By the time she reached the building, the streets were quiet, emptied of morning
