Chapter 11
The streets were full. There were children, adolescents, adults, users, d*** d****rs. Everyone mixed as equals. Everyone acted that Friday night as if they had never seen their dubious activities during the day. Everyone greeted each other with joy.
The cars piled up on the one-way streets and the sounds were discordant and uncomfortable. I made an ugly face to every man who watched me more than once, even if Mariana stuck her arm to mine and kept pinching me so as not to act with so much disgust with the looks of admiration. I hated that dress.
I hated those people. And I hated the night because it was clean and without rain. I really wanted everything to get wet that night. Nothing would give me more pleasure than seeing people running to protect their sound equipment, or the young girls with their hair forcibly straightened. I hated everyone.
