Alex's POV

Nathan's sudden tight hug almost took my breath away. I couldn't understand what had gotten into him.

"Where have you been?" he asked, his words laced with anger. Was I in trouble?

"I just went to the library to get some spell books. Why?" I replied, feeling confused and taken aback by his reaction.

He loosened his grip slightly and looked into my eyes, his expression softening. "I was worried sick when I woke up and found you gone. I thought something had happened to you."

A mix of relief and guilt washed over me. I hadn't realized he would be so concerned about my brief absence.
