'I'm completely yours.' This affirmation played over and over in my head, and I smiled deeply. 

"Yes, you're free and all mine." I affirmed not only to her but also to myself, and I gently squeezed her hand. 

"Damn Renee... I'm going to fucking treat you well.” I cursed, frantically rubbing her palms and my eyes boring deep into hers; I continued, “I'm going to spoil you and give you everything you deserve. Everything you want. I'm sorry you had to go through so much before meeting me, and even though it's selfish to say this, I'm glad the things you went through brought us together. I will always be by your side. Always, you don’t have to worry about that. And I promise… whatever happens, as long as we are together, we will never lose each other ever.”

“Rob…” Her hands trembled in my grasp as she stared at me with imploring eyes, and my chest clenched again.

This tightening in my chest took me back to my past…
