The look on Nicole’s face told me she didn’t like this decision of mine, but she didn’t argue further, and with a resigned sigh, she stepped aside.

She gave me a small, sad smile as she lightly squeezed my shoulder. "You got this.” She whispered, and with that encouraging statement, she exited the room. 

I whipped my face towards Robert as soon as the door behind me clicked shut, looking directly into his once bright blue eyes, which had now darkened into icy stormy grey, full of emotions I couldn't quite put a name to. 

Was it shame? Pain? Fear? Regret? Well, fuck him! Fuck whatever he was feeling! He deserved to be miserable after all the shit he put me through in just three days and still counting.
