For the first time in years, Leo was truly happy. It was not that he no longer felt bad about what happened to Lionel. Or how his parents had lied to him. Or how he could do nothing to alter the past. It was just that his future had finally taken a meaningful shape. He had something to look forward to–being with Emma. For almost eight months now, he and Emma had been vested in each other's lives, fixing the broken parts of themselves. They no longer lived in the mansion because of all the bad memories it had planted in their heads. They had bought an apartment in Napa and he still ran the wine company. He still managed the vineyards and wineries. Elena had relocated to Florence. She was in a relationship with Douglass.
As he set foldable chairs in the vineyard, he recalled the first time he and Isla had made love, almost eight months ago. It was everything he always imagined it would be and even more. Emma would here any minute from now. He’d suggested they hold a picnic
