Chapter 98. Two to Tango

Adeline POV

I shuttered at my mate’s husky voice, I could see Alpha Blake’s hesitation when Alpha Jaxon reprimanded him. It felt like a battle of Alpha auras, the two of them head to head over Alpha Blake’s strange requests. Why was he so obsessed with seeing my wolf? What did it mean to him? My wolf was uneasy, the tone he used to speak to me made me feel like a child. Also, why was he so interested in Midnight Moon’s pack borders?

I was sure that Alpha Jaxon could feel my discomfort, placing his large hand on the small of my back as a sign of protection. His touch lit up something inside of me yet I couldn’t shake the strange feeling that I was being watched. My eyes wandered over to the table that Alpha Blake’s mate was at; her expression of irritation never wavering. When we locked eyes for a moment, I couldn’t shake the feeling like I had just done something wrong. I proceeded to give her a small smile which she quickly returned.
