Summer’s POV

Although Amby seemed to have shed a considerable amount of weight, her physique remained well-toned. Her attire effectively camouflaged any perceivable alterations, and she had expertly concealed her once-dominant eye bulge with cosmetics. Her professionalism in her line of work was truly admirable, and she deserved recognition for it.

Standing next to me, Steven held Stefani in his arms as we watched Maxine and Amby walking towards us. Amby had a sincere smile on her face while Maxine looked genuinely happy, but it was clear to me that their happiness was fake. As they approached us, I felt Steven’s strong arms wrap around me, and his breath brushed against my cheek.

“I will protect you this time…” he whispered.
