Alice's POV

After dinner, Alexander lies down, placing his head on my lap, and I caress his hair.

“Alexander, the night you were drunk, and I slept with you, why were you getting nightmares?” I enquire.

I recalled that night because of our tonight conversation, and now I want to know why he was getting nightmares that night.

“In my childhood, my mother abandoned me, which left a lasting impact on me. I would often find myself trapped in dreams where she would leave me again, a constant reminder of the abandonment I had endured.” His words tug at my heartstrings, and I feel a surge of empathy for the young boy he once was.

He smiles and takes my hand in his, adding, “However, ever since I started sharing my nights with you, the nightmares vanish like magic. Your presence faded away the ghosts of my past.”

As I listen to his words, a warmth fills my heart, knowing that my presence has brought him solace and tranquillity.
