Sabrina's POV
Emotions welled in my throat.
“She’s up?” Lizzy’s demand made my eyes sting with tears.
She was sitting on the edge of the hospital bed, hugging me fiercely, a moment later. My own hug was weak, but for whatever reason, peace coursed through my veins.
I was dying.
This… was it.
I didn’t want to die, but I was happy with the life I’d lived. It had been a good, good life. I’d donated money, I’d helped out friends and coworkers. I was proud of who I’d been.
“Did you call my dad?” I rasped to her.
“No.” Her arms tightened around me. “You’re not dying, Sab.”
My eyes closed, and I let out a slow, painful sigh. “Every part of me hurts, Lizzy. And I’m so tired.”
Lizzy let go long enough to look at Dax. “I know your wolf doesn’t want you away from her, but we need a minute.”
His jaw worked back and forth.
He didn’t want me, but his wolf did.
“Did you pick up my headphones?” I asked Lizzy.
