Chapter 56. The War in the Woods
Natasha’s POV
I sliced another wolf’s chest open and looked around in despair. We had killed so many already and there seemed to be no signs of them slowing down. Bleidd and Cara were knee deep in wolf flesh and blood, and were surrounded by a lot more than they could handle individually. Maybe it’s meant to be. Maybe the villain wins in this story. I sighed to myself and continued fighting. I could hear Grant laughing in front of me as he held Maeve. He knew it was only a matter of time before we lost our resolve.
I heard what seemed like a war cry from some direction, but I didn’t pay much attention to it. Till it became closer. And louder. And Grant turned his head in the direction it was coming from. And in a few seconds, Ethan and the rest of his pack emerged from the woods. They were a lot more than I expected, and suddenly I could feel the faint glimmers of hope in my heart burning brighter.
