A warning
The moment I arrive, the world feels like it’s caving in.
Red and blue lights flash against my face, slicing through the thick smoke that curls into the sky like a living thing. My eyes scan the chaos, desperate, searching for anything—any sign that Isabel is safe, that someone’s pulled her out already.
But there’s nothing.
Just noise. People yelling. Sirens wailing. Flames climbing higher, clawing at the sky like it’s hungry for more. My heart starts to pound.
Paramedics are holding people back, barricading the building, refusing to let anyone through. I tense when I spot Christine among the crowd, her face twisted in panic, struggling against one of the responders as she tries to move past them. If she’s still here… if they’re all still out here…
