Victoria’s POV
Dominic turned back to me, his expression softening ever so slightly. “Come on,” he said, extending a hand to help me up.
I hesitated for a moment, my gaze flickering to his injured arm. “You’re hurt,” I whispered, my voice trembling.
“I’m fine,” he insisted, though the tightness in his jaw told me otherwise. “Let’s get you out of here.”
The tears wouldn’t stop. No matter how much I tried to compose myself, the sight of Dominic; his arm bleeding, his face pale but stoic, shattered what little control I had left.
“I’m so sorry,” I whispered between sobs. “You could’ve been killed, Dominic. I don’t—”
“Don’t,” he interrupted, his voice soft now, soothing. He tilted my chin up so I had to look at him, his gaze steady despite the pain I knew he was in. “You’re alive and safe. That’s all that matters.”
His words wrapped around me like a lifeline, but the guilt wouldn’t relent. “But you—”
“Victoria,” he murmured, cutting
