Victoria’s POV
The air was crisp as we stepped out of the hospital, a gentle breeze cutting through the late afternoon sun. Dominic walked beside me, his movements slower than usual. Despite his injuries, he exuded an air of quiet strength, as if even the bullet wound couldn’t diminish his presence.
I stayed close, my gaze flickering toward him every few moments, half-expecting him to stumble. But he didn’t. He was as steady as ever, his jaw set with that familiar determination that I both admired and found infuriating.
“Don’t hover,” Dominic said, glancing at me with a small smirk.
“I’m not hovering,” I replied, crossing my arms as I tried to mask my concern. “I’m just making sure you don’t collapse on the sidewalk.”
“I’m fine,” he assured me, his voice soft but firm. “You’ve been by my side this entire time, Victoria. I think I can manage the walk to the car.”
