The silence becomes louder, the tension suddenly growing thicker. Ray gives me a long look, brows drawn close together and then he nods once.

“Okay, we can talk in my office,” he says, then turns to everyone else. “Thank you all once again, and that would be all.”

Music blasts through speakers, MaryAnne begins screaming, and chatters erupt as I walk behind Ray, his massive shoulders not hard to miss as he saunters down the hallway.
