Chapter 141. Pete’s in the Car
Ezra POV
My feet lead me before I can think. I head straight for the door and sure enough, Mitch stands at our front step.
His hair slicked back, and a hard glare pointed at me.
“Mitch,” I breathe, absolutely shocked. “I thought you weren’t…wow, it’s good to see you.”
His lips curl in distaste. “Can’t say the same. Where is she?”
“Can we all talk?”
“Can’t. I’ve got Pete in the car, can’t leave him out there.”
My jaw drops and my eyes widen. “Pete? You brought…Pete? Can I…is he…”
The words die out in my throat, heart pounding against my chest as I stare at the single black car at the end of the driveway.
