She rises and moves closer to him, not furious but rather irritated. However, I know, as does she, that he is coming from a good place. As they distance themselves from the others, still close enough for me to observe, I notice Veronica moving closer to eavesdrop, while the rest simply continue with their breakfast. Only Aldric and Izaac seem uneasy.
"Chantel, you understand what is best for you. I trust you," Zave tells her.
"So why are you doing this? Why now? Why today when I feel good about myself and do not think about dying—" she pauses, realizing I am still alive.
She is aware of my mother's situation, so she refrains from continuing that statement, but I despise the fact that she considered it at all. She didn't explicitly mention contemplating taking her own life, but thinking about death comes close enough for me.
