"I'm disgusted by the way we all tried to pretend that he was a good father. As if he wasn't desperately trying to get rid of me once I stopped being his puppet. As if he wasn't abusing us constantly," Chantel declared, her voice trembling with suppressed anger.
"I'm only saying this once so listen well, father," she continued, her words dripping with defiance. "I will not go to court and I will certainly not marry that fraud. If I go to court, it'll be to kill him. You have no honor and no shame. I may not be a lady, but you can't treat me like an object."
Those were words I meant deeply but they couldn't be more untrue. I never killed him; I fell madly in love with him. And I certainly did marry him.
