Chapter 7. Reborn

Charlotte’s POV

I woke up in an unfamiliar room, the walls painted white. As I got out of bed, the first thought that crossed my mind was, am I still alive? Maybe this was the afterlife. However, when I looked out the window, I realized that I was still on the ground.

Memories of the last event before I lost consciousness flooded my mind. Anger surged through my veins as Adonis’s last words echoed in my head. It was a good thing I took the risk and rejected him. Now, I am free.

Strangely, I felt no pain, but I didn’t have time to sit back and ponder on how I miraculously survived. I needed to leave before someone discovered me here and raised an alarm. Only Adonis knew why he kept me in this room, but I didn’t want to stick around and find out.

Surprisingly, the door was unlocked. He mustn’t have expected me to make it out alive which made him let his guard down. Well, too bad for him. I was going to disappoint him once again, like I always have.
