Evelyn’s POV
Now I understood why Ava had been so troubled. Even after I found out where Nathan was, her unease didn’t subside.
She’d been feeling something I wasn’t feeling. Nathan wasn’t just walking into danger; he was stepping straight into the lion’s den.
“Oh God,” I whispered, “I really hope you’re okay, Nathan.”
“Can you feel anything, Ava?” I asked, clutching at the faint hope that her connection to him might give us a clue if Nathan was fine.
“Nothing, Evelyn,” she said. “It’s like he detached himself from his wolf. I can’t catch his scent, and I can’t feel a single thing.”
At least we knew where he was now. That much, I held on to. “I just hope he’s fine,” I murmured.
“I don’t know, Evelyn,” Ava replied hesitantly. “I feel like something bad has happened though.”
