Kieran’s POV

I walked confidently through the hallway as Jay explained the council's message to me. I suddenly halted at the scene before me.

There was a small crowd.

“What the hell is going on here?” I thundered. The crowd immediately parted for me.

And then I saw her.

She was on the floor, her body curled slightly. Her dress was soaked, her hands clenched so tightly I could see the pale strain of her knuckles.

And her face was bruised. And she had a look of shock on her face like she wasn't expecting to see me

My jaw tightened as I scanned the scene. Tessa was near her, looking shaken, while Eva stood in the center of it all, her chin raised like she had just won a battle. The maids and guards around them were still chuckling, enjoying the show.
